The Aosta Valley, a land of majestic mountains and unspoiled nature, offers hiking routes that allow you to explore some of the most beautiful panoramic views and alpine landscapes in Italy. One such route is from Buthier Gorrey, a gateway to an adventure that combines history, nature and the tranquility of high altitudes. The Route: Between History and Nature
After leaving Buthier Gorrey, the trail heads toward the hamlet of Clemencey, where it meets trails 3 and 3A. The ascent continues to Alpe Mendey, at 1547 meters above sea level, a first point of interest that provides spectacular views of the surrounding valleys. Taking trail number 3, the route enters a dense forest, The trail then becomes more challenging, climbing up to Alpe Meriau Damon (1740 m a.s.l.) and then to Alpe Collet at 1919 meters, where the landscape opens up into a breathtaking panoramic view. The Return: Along Antiche Vie
Dal Collet, the route follows the track marked number 3B, which runs along the irrigation canal known as “ru Collet.” This section, with its gentle slope, winds around the slopes of the Cresta Tardiva, introducing into the picturesque Vallone d’Ars. Alpe Ars, at 1975 meters, marks the last downhill section along the steep farm track marked number 4, until it meets the old military road number 3C near Alpe Praz-Gallet. From here, the return to Buthier Gorrey follows the outward path, closing the circle of this alpine adventure.
