Excursion to La Comba Sozin and Bella Comba Lakes
In the heart of the Italian Alps, the La Thuile area offers hiking routes that reveal breathtaking landscapes and little-known natural gems, such as the Comba Sozin and Bella Comba Lakes. This itinerary is a true invitation to adventure for nature lovers and trekkers, providing an immersive experience in Alpine flora and fauna. The Route: Details and Main Attractions
Departing from La Joux
The adventure begins just before arriving at the parking lots in La Joux, where trail No. 7, marked by a bollard, comes off. The trail begins as a dirt road that meanders past renovated huts and continues to a picturesque little bridge, then enters the dense, enchanting forest. Toward the Lower Arnouva Alpine Pasture
Crossing the forest, you come to a fork in the path that leads to the Lower Arnouva Alpine Pasture. The trail becomes wilder and more natural, approaching the Maisonettes Stream. Climbing slightly, you reach the ruins of the Maisonettes pastures, witnesses to the pastoral past of the area. The Little Lakes and the Comba Thuilette
Continuing on, the trail climbs to a rocky crag that opens onto a plateau where there are two charming little lakes. This area offers a relaxing and scenic break, perfect for a picnic or simply to enjoy the tranquility of the place. Arrival at Comba Sozin Lake
Continuing the trail, the path descends bypassing Comba Sozin, leading to Comba Sozin Lake at 2081 meters. This alpine lake, surrounded by a sometimes rugged but well-marked environment, is a highlight of the hike, with crystal clear waters reflecting the sky and surrounding mountains. Return via Bella Comba Lakes
After the lake, the trail climbs back up to the two Bella Comba Lakes, offering additional alpine vistas and the opportunity to observe the local flora and fauna up close. These lesser-known but equally fascinating lakes are ideal for nature photography enthusiasts.
