Morgex villair – chatelard castle
Toward an ancient castle
Departure from Villair di Morgex
The starting point is the hamlet of Villair di Morgex, where the trail begins by crossing the bridge over the Colomba stream. Immediately one finds oneself climbing along a steep paved mule track that challenges but also gives immediate panoramic views. Through the Forest and Vineyards
After a semi-flat section immersed in a deciduous forest, the trail heads toward La Salle for about 200 meters, then veers to the left. Here, the mule track makes its way among ancient vines, witnesses to a rich and deeply rooted agricultural tradition in the region. This section of the trail is particularly impressive, especially during the harvest season. Ascent to the Village of Château
The trail then meets a farm road and continues to climb to the picturesque village of Château. Here, visitors are greeted by the remains of Châtelard Castle. The 18-meter-high cylindrical tower dominates the landscape along with traces of the city walls, evoking images of times past when these places were the scene of historical events. The Castle and the Breathtaking View
From the village of Château, there is one of the most remarkable views in the area: the entire Valdigne stretches out at the visitor’s feet, with the majestic Mont Blanc as a backdrop. It is the ideal place to take a break, reflect on the history of the place and take unforgettable photographs. Return to Villair di Morgex
After savoring the history and beauty of the views, the return to Villair di Morgex follows the same route, offering a chance to relive the landscapes and details that may have been missed on the way out.
