Nus The Astronomical Observatory

Looking Beyond Infinity

Located in Lignan, a mountain hamlet at an altitude of more than 1,600 meters in the Saint-Barthélemy valley, the Astronomical Observatory of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta (OAVdA) and the Planetarium of Lignan are landmarks for astronomy enthusiasts.
Opened in 2003, the OAVdA is the only regional astronomical observatory in Italy to have a multi-year agreement with the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF).
The instrument park is among the largest in Europe, with laboratories and telescopes for sun and sky observation.
The OAVdA is involved in national and international research projects.
In addition to research, astrophysicists devote time to outreach and educational initiatives.
We recommend booking night tours so you can enjoy the pristine starry sky and be fascinated by the stories of the planets and constellations.
