The Saint Grat<\/a> Farm and the first orchards<\/h2>\n\n

The Saint Grat<\/a> Farm was established <\/strong>in Gressan<\/strong>, about 5 kilometers from Aosta, the regional capital, to produce apple juice.<\/p>\n\n

The farm’s orchards <\/strong>and business began to appear and grow in large numbers after World War II as demand from residents increased.<\/p>\n\n

In recent years, thanks to major renovation and rationalization of the cultivation, the Saint Grat<\/a> Farm<\/strong> has increased its traditional production of apples<\/strong>, particularly rennet apples<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

Hence the idea of allocating a portion of the harvest to pressing. <\/p>\n\n

“Beware<\/em>,” warns Ivo <\/strong>, ” a part, not the scraps!<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n

Apple and apple juice production in the Aosta Valley.<\/h2>\n\n

The Saint Grat<\/a> Farm <\/strong>‘s orchards are all parceled out and located in the Gressan area. <\/p>\n\n

“It is not at all easy to work in this area<\/em>,” Ivo<\/strong> tells us, “ but we are still lucky because our climate is a great help: there is little rain and therefore a lot of sunshine, which makes the apple delicious, juicy and without defects!”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Indeed, the Aosta Valley<\/strong> is on the whole a particularly good area for apple production, thanks precisely to the dry climate that discourages the establishment of apple orchard pests.<\/p>\n\n

The company now offers a selection of three juices made from different apples, all grown locally. <\/p>\n\n
